Man Carrying a Box

In SNL, we understand that it takes more than just a fleet of trucks to fulfil the increasing needs and complexity in deliveries. Customised deliveries are tailor-made transportation solutions that are catered to customers whose needs are beyond conventional trucking services.

Examples of services as follows:

  • Manual handling requirements on goods

  • Transporting products that require special care (e.g. fragile goods, glass, furniture...etc.)

  • Special entry requirements into Free Trade Zones (FTZ), ports, and airports

  • Domestic Malaysia/Singapore transit or deliveries via smaller 1 - 3 tonnes truck units, vans, or local courier service providers

When travelling, many would find that opting for a connecting flight - where passengers make a stop en route to their final destination - often comes with a lower price tag when compared to a non-stop flight. The same goes for transportation of goods. This practice, known as transshipment, refers to the process where containers are transferred from one vessel to another at one location, before being shipped off to their intended destination.

Fueled by the growth in global trade through the years, transshipment plays a vital role in the global supply chain today as it offers logistics players a high level of flexibility. Meanwhile, transshipment also gives significant cost benefits as it enables consolidation of several small shipments to fill a large container or breaking up a large shipment into smaller ones to be delivered to various locations. On top of that, the mode of transport or route for the delivery could also be adjusted depending on needs and requirements.

Transshipment activities usually take place in specialised hubs, such as the Port of Singapore - the world's busiest transshipment hub, accounting for almost one-seventh of the world's total container transshipment volumes.
